Overnight Itinerary Aboard The Battleship TEXAS!

The times below are approximate. A different schedule can be made to accommodate group needs, such as age, travel time, other group activities, etc.

Day 1
6:00pm / 1800 hours
(pronounced eighteen hundred hours)
Group Arrival and Program Introduction. Administrative matters are taken care of and can not be completed until all group participants arrive. So please have all participants arrive as soon as they can so as not to delay the group from going aboard. Arrangements can be made for late arrivals.
6:30pm / 1830 hours Salute Aboard.
6:45pm / 1845 hours Participants raise their organization's flag, which will fly over the ship until they lower the flag upon departure at the end of the program
7:00pm / 1900 hours Stow sleep gear in the sleeping quarters and safety meeting.
7:30pm / 1930 hours Tour ship's interior for about 1 1/2 hours with a knowledgeable and experienced docent. Time can be adjusted for different age groups and weather conditions.
9:00pm / 2100 hours Snack-movie break. Group provides their own drinks and snacks but not popcorn or raisins.. Water is available aboard.
9:30pm / 2130 hours Scavenger hunt in which youth find the answers to Battleship Texas questions. The winner receives the ship's CD and a set of ship's July 1944 drawings at the next day's graduation.
10:00pm / 2200 hours Ready for bed.
10:30pm / 2230 hours Taps is sounded — Adults conduct a rotating safety watch until morning reveille. Shorter hours if more adults are present.
Day 2
6:30am / 0630 hours
(pronounced Oh-six-thirty hours)
Reveille is sounded — Reveille, Head Call, stow bedding and belongings in sleeping quarters.
7:00am / 0700 hours Mess — Breakfast is provided (cereal, milk, orange juice, muffins, bananas, coffee for adults), clean up breakfast location and go over the activity for the day.
7:30am / 0730 hours Main deck free time — time and weather permitting.
7:50am / 0750 hours Muster at stern (and possibly bow) to raise the American (stern) and a bow flag, to be done by participants
8:00am / 0800 hours Raise the American Flag and possibly bow flag
8:02am / 0802 hours Tour main deck, turret and navigation bridge
9:15am / 0915 hours Provide written feedback about your TEXAS experience.
9:30am / 0930 hours Battleship Graduation
9:50am / 0950 hours Lower your group flag
10:00am / 1000 hours Depart the Battleship TEXAS - BB35
