Tours: The Battleship is open 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., year-round. The ship is closed Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Self-guided tour routes lead to compartments above and below decks. Admission: under 6 years - free; per-person fees for adults, students, and school groups. There are special group discounts available; contact the park for details.

Directions: From Interstate 610 East, take Texas Highway 225 east for 11 miles to Texas Highway 134 (Battleground Road), continue north about 2 miles and turn right on Park Road 1836 for the Monument or stay left (Highway 134) another mile to reach the Battleship.

  • Hard Hat Tours, Participants will be able to see areas of the ship rarely seen by the public. Featured highlights of the tours include the Ammo Handling Room, Aft Steering, Drying Room, Boiler Room, Main Radio Room, Plotting Room, Forward Dynamo Room, Forward Power Distribution Room, Central Station, # 5 Turret, and the Pilot House. February 2008

  • February Battleship Texas SHS Remember the Maine — This memorial event pays tribute to the Americans who fought in the Spanish American War, and to the first U.S. Navy ship to bear the name TEXAS, which played a crucial role in the American Naval victory in Cuba. Historical interpreters will stage small arms demonstrations, from flintlocks to machineguns and you can visit encampments depicting the various eras of our nation's military history. A memorial service honoring Americans who have died in the service of our country will be held on the bow of the Battleship TEXAS.

March 2008:

  • Fords of the 50’s Club 25th Annual Old Car Picnic, Enjoy a walk through the site and view hundreds of classic cars. Bring your picnic basket and stay for the daylong activities. Free to the viewing public. Vehicle registration fee for cars entered in the show. 

April 2008:

  •  San Jacinto Day Celebration - A traditional San Jacinto Day ceremony will be conducted at the San Jacinto Monument at 10:30 a.m., followed by a reenactment of the famous 1836 battle, which won Texas's independence from Mexico at 3 p.m. at the San Jacinto Battleground. Cannon and musket fire will fill the air with the sights and sounds of April 21, 1836! A new boardwalk into the historic San Jacinto Marsh will also make its "public debut." Visitors can catch a glimpse of a multitude of flora and fauna found in this unique ecosystem, including nearly 200 species of birds, several of which are categorized as threatened or endangered. Food and drinks will be available. Park hours for boardwalk access 8 a.m.-9 p.m., activities 10:30 a.m. 3:30 p.m. (281) 479-243. 

May 2008:

  • 18th Annual Monumental Bug Bash - The Bay Area Volkswagen Club hosts this annual car show that features oodles and oodles of "BUGS." If you have an old VW or just want to come and see the show, bring a picnic lunch and make a day of it. 9 a.m.-4 p.m.; call to register your VW Bug. (281) 479-2431.

  • December 2007Battleship Texas SHS Yuletide Texas — Christmas was a very special time for the sailors and officers who served aboard Battleship TEXAS. Visit throughout the month of December to see the Battleship TEXAS adorned with lights, ornaments and decorations in the spirit of the season, just the way the crew members who served aboard her did while serving their country. 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; fees free for Texas State Parks Pass members, $10 non-members, $5 senior citizens, free for children 12 and under (281) 479-2431.   • December - Battleship Texas SHS Pearl Harbor Ceremony — The event commemorates the December 7, 1941 bombing of Pearl Harbor, bringing the U.S. into World War II. Join us in paying our respects to those whose sacrifices saved our freedom. The San Jacinto Chapter Pearl Harbor Survivors Association will be featured in this annual ceremony, hosted by Battleship TEXAS and sponsored by the Texas Commandry of the Naval Order of the United States. 11 a.m.-noon; ceremony is free, but regular fees apply for tours after the ceremony (281) 479-2431. Remember the Maine

Participate in this patriotic weekend event for the USS Maine. Take a walk back in time through living history exhibits which will include a military encampment and historical interpreters presenting small arms demonstrations. A memorial service will be presented each day. Free to the viewing public. Regular admission applies for anyone wishing to board ship. Annual event typically held in February.
Fords of the 50's Car Show

San Jacinto Day San Jacinto Day reenactment.
Come travel back to the days of Sam Houston and Santa Anna at the Battle of San Jacinto. Experience the past through this living history encampment and watch the reenactment of the battle for Texas freedom. Reenactors in period dress will demonstrate army camp life including weaponry, cooking and blacksmithing. After the Civil War, the defense of the Texas frontier was assigned to the famous "Buffalo Soldiers." Come shake hands with a real "Buffalo Soldier" during this event. Free to the viewing public. Annual event held in April.
Monumental Bug Bash

Volkswagen car show - lots of "Bugs." If you have an old Bug or just want to come to see the show, spend the day at the site. Free to the viewing public. Annual event typically held in May.
Battle Stations: 1944

Experience life aboard the Battleship in 1944 through this living history event. Interact with re-enactors dressed in World War II navy and marine uniforms. A weapons demonstration will be given during this event. Regular admission applies for anyone wishing to board ship. Annual event typically held in September.
Pearl Harbor Day

Participate in the remembrance of the bombing of Pearl Harbor, December 7, 1941, "the Day of Infamy." Join the Texas Commandry of the Naval Order of the U.S. and the staff and volunteers of the Battleship Texas in paying respect to those who sacrificed their lives in the bombing of Pearl Harbor. Free to the viewing public. Regular admission applies for anyone wishing to board ship. Annual event held in December.
Yuletide Texas
